 Situated in the heart of the wine
region, Tamar is one of Marlborough’s oldest vineyards. The land has been in the
Dasler family since 1938 – and with a New Zealand heritage dating back to the 1830s
current owners Clive and Yvonne have a pioneering knowledge of the New Zealand grape
industry and a wealth of local knowledge to share.A warm, romantic retreat, the newly-built cottage has been designed to pamper the visitor in search of a special, private hideaway. Guests are welcomed with afternoon tea or supper and have no trouble falling asleep on the ornately carved and draped four-poster bed – especially after enjoying the complimentary chocolates.
At day’s end, guests can relax in total privacy on the broad verandah of the cottage to enjoy unsurpassed views through the rows of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay grapes to the Richmond Ranges beyond.

Breakfast on Tamar Vineyard is
more of an event than a meal. Brought to your cottage and served on a lace tablecloth with
fine napkins, it invariably includes homemade preserves and jams made from fruit grown on
the estate. Never less than three courses, it may include such regional specialities as a
fresh fruit salad with crème fraiche, eggs scrambled with cream and smoked salmon, and
freshly baked muffins from the farmhouse kitchen. Naturally, there’s fruit juice,
freshly-ground coffee and a selection of teas as well. Breakfast at Tamar - a sumptuous
start to your day.
