Tamar is one of Marlborough’s oldest vineyards. A warm, romantic retreat, our cottage has been designed to pamper the visitor in search of a special hideaway. Guests are welcomed with afternoon tea or a glass of wine and have no trouble falling asleep on the ornately carved and draped four-poster bed topped with a feather-down duvet – especially after enjoying the complimentary chocolates.

Breakfast at Tamar Vineyard Cottage is more of an event than a meal. Brought to your cottage at the time you choose, it includes homemade preserves and jams made from fruit grown on the estate. Never less than three courses, it will include regional specialties and freshly baked muffins from the farmhouse kitchen.

Tamar Vineyard has been in the Dasler family since 1938 – and with a New Zealand heritage dating back to the 1830’s current owners Clive and Yvonne have a pioneering knowledge of the New Zealand grape industry and a wealth of local knowledge to share. We enjoy showing guests around the vineyard - and you are welcome to as many grapes as you can eat! We can also help you plan your self-drive wine trail, or recommend an organised tour to meet your individual tastes. Several wineries and restaurants are an easy stroll away.

Tamar - the name is Hebrew and means "a place of refuge." For our guests it means more - a romantic retreat and secluded hideaway, where the warmth of the welcome ensures a memorable holiday. Yvonne and Clive look forward to welcoming you.
